About the event
Since the beginning of time, stories have been shared wherever people gathered. Before the written word, storytellers would travel from village to village to entertain as well as share news from afar. For days, all work would stop as people listened to the storyteller’s tales.
Presently, there are myriad ways to be entertained. Still, the oral tradition of storytelling prevails.
In this workshop, the participants will experience many different types of stories, and learn how to utilize voice, gesture, movement, props, and settings, to entice the listeners. An art project will be offered as an aid in memorizing more complex and longer stories.
The workshop will be held at the 1850’s Birdsong Farm. Weather permitting, lunch will be served on the balcony overlooking Bellpond. This workshop is ideal for educators and parents who homeschool and wish to hone their storytelling skills, for parents and grandparents who would like to expand their versatility and repertoire of stories, and for anyone interested in the Waldorf method of education. Come join in the camaraderie in a peaceful nature-based environment with an offering of fresh air and good food.
This is an adult workshop. A presentation for children is planned in the near future.
